  My Daughter Just Graduated From College!

  she was about 13 or 14 when i first started having serious doubts about the wts.

  when i informed her of my doubts a couple years later, she took the information and ran with it.... she never looked back.

  i told her she could be whatever she wanted to be if she only worked hard enough.

  What happens when a elderly dub is put into a care home?

  speaking from my experiance i have seen no less than 10 elderly jw's put into old age care homes and promptly forgotten about!.

  no visits from their "loving shepards" no vists from their spritual family.

  they were left to rot out of sight out of mind.

  My Mother was a witness for 27 years. My parents moved down south to retire, went to the hall, had a book study in their home,,, the usual.

  Several years ago when my Mom was bedridden and in - out of assisted care homes not one witness came to visit.

  When she died two years ago, I went down to help my Dad out the week after and after going out to lunch one day we came home and there was

  a wt tract in the doorhandle.

  My Dad said "oh look,, the friends were here"

  I thought,, what friends? ???

  I was raised a RC, and went to a Catholic school for nine years. Not once did any of the priests do anything questionable to me or my friends.

  We were altar boys, so we were around the priests much more than others.

  I hope that the situation posted in the articles above causes something to happen so that changes are made, and apologies are said.

  But many people I know as well as myself learned a heck of a lot over the years regarding God and maintaining a healthy relationship with him.

  i feel that people who have actually maintained their spirituality (in spite of becoming a jw) over the years need to carry on that the church has

  had a positive effect in our lives, not every priest is a preditory sexual pervert. Some of the most upright, moral men I have met were Catholic priests

  who reflected this spiritually positive behaviour to others, and members of my family over the years.

  Like the witnesses, very real, decent spiritual people CAN be found.

  I was raised a Roman Catholic from day 1 to 16 yrs.

  parents and grandparents were both RC.

  Dad started to study with the jw's in mid 1970's and the whole family turned rabid.

  I felt as only son it was my duty to stand up for what was considered the "truth".

  During his book study (which I sat in on quite often) much time was spent ripping apart many of our RC beliefs, and replacing them with the

  pure / wholesome, wt thoughts, and teachings.

  And also as a side benefit to me, many of the younger guys from the hall became my so - called "friends" who shared with me the very important skills needed as a teenager to evaluate, purchase, and smoke weed, drink heavily and not get caught by parents, teachers, or the police. Run around and date those awful worldly girls while all the time putting on a correct, rightous face at the hall. Everyone thought we all were the most upright-spiritual young kids around.

  The funny thing is that I was pretty straight and decent before becoming a jw. It took me having to join gods "true religion" before I knew how to be a total drug using, alcoholic , lying, swearing, hypocrite.

  With wonderful friends like that, and being young and naive I bought the whole baptism thing hook-line-and sinker.

  So while it was my decision, now I look back and see that I was guided in different ways to reach that outcome.

  The worst thing to me was the reaction on my Grandfathers face when he learned about me becoming a witness,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  I really respected and admired him. His reaction will bother me for the rest of my life.

  Yet at the time I knew that my decision was correct in order for me to survive armageddon and live forever in a paradise earth with my hypocritical friends.

  That was 35 years ago, and from what I have heard over the past few years all of my "friends" are either df'ed, divorced, or in drug rehab,

  Not one is a rightous, god fearing person,,, what a crock of garbage this religion is for young people.

  i haven't been here too often lately because i noticed recently there seemed to be many angry posts.

  anyway, now it is my turn to vent.. i read this on msn.com just minutes ago and i cannot believe what i was reading.

  i am shocked and saddened that anyone would produce such a statement.

  There are no doubt some birds that are so covered in oil that they should be killed.

  Raw oil is really wicked stuff,

  But the majority should be rescued and washed off.

  Mankind caused this nightmare, we are responsible for the outcome.

  Did your congregation have "Talent" Shows?

  we had several "talent" shows over the years in my original congregation - it was the only annual gathering more nauseating that the meetings.. my friend and i would always bring our walkmans and blare heavy metal in the back - hoping to block out the embarassing crap on the stage.you always had a few older ones get up on stage and slaughter a kingdumb song.

  In Crystal lake we would have shows where imdividuals would lip - sync a song and dress up .

  It was pretty neat, but the elders came down pretty hard and ended them after we had two.

  Is there any advantage in giving a special pioneer a place in your home?

  would i get anything from it, in terms of privileges or the like?.

  As a JW, Did You Skip Houses You Knew Were Not Interested?

  i have to confess: in my last 3 - 5 years in field circus, i basically only went to neighborhoods that were extrememly poor and thus i knew they would be favorable to the message.

  i always had my own territory checked out, and even if an elder suggested i join another group in working another territory, i always had plenty of reasons why i needed to work mine.

  (bible study or rv that i had to make at 11 am, etc...blah blah blah..lol).

  When I visited bethel back in the early 80's one evening we were walking to the meeting during a rainstorm.

  There was a lady standing under the awning of a neighboring building, and she was all wet.

  i went up and asked her if she needed some help, and as she started talking one of the bethel guys grabbed me and pulled me away.

  When we got into the hall, I asked him what the heck his problem was. He said that the lady is a prostitute and is always trying to talk to the

  brothers coming to the meetings.
